Emergency & Planned Outages

SVEC will be having a required Power Outage on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 starting at 12:01am till 4:00am.  Our power supplier, Bonneville Power Administration, has completed mandatory maintenance on the Cedarville Substation. This outage is needed to switch power back to the normal feed.  This outage will affect Pacific Power and Light AND Surprise Valley Electric customers in Cedarville, Eagleville, Ft. Bidwell, and Lake City.  We understand scheduled maintenance causes inconvenience.  However, the purpose of scheduled maintenance is to prevent extended, unplanned outages.  Much of the substation and switching equipment required to provide reliable service must be ordered months ahead of time.  Scheduling equipment replacement reduces unexpected outages.  Typically scheduled maintenance is planned for a time when system load is the least.  Bonneville Power Administration's and our system load is at minimal levels in the fall and spring.  Occasionally, outages must be scheduled to take care of unplanned events and repairs.  SVEC is sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.
